EligibilityTo be eligible for the Veterans of Foreign Wars, one must - be a United States Citizen, have honorably served in the Armed Forces of the United States (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard),
- performed service entitling the applicant to the award of a recognized campaign medal or as set forth in the Congressional Charter and/or By-Laws.
- Entitlement to a campaign medal should be shown on separation papers of the individual - currently the DD 214.
- Persons still on active duty must submit a statement signed by their Commanding Officer or Personnel Officer certifying to their having earned a campaign medal.
